Content

This online seminar is aimed at teaching faculty who wish to become more confident in navigating the multicultural classroom. It offers a brief theoretical background on intercultural competencies and some core strategies with the goal to create a positive learning environment, increase participation in the multicultural classroom, and capitalize on the potential a multicultural learning community brings to the classroom.

Intended learning outcomes

- to broaden the understanding of some cultural aspects which have an impact on teaching and learning in the intercultural classroom
- to strengthen the ability to reflect on intercultural incidents in a constructive and solution-oriented way
- to understand what it takes to foster intercultural teaching competence and to adapt one’s ways of teaching in order to create a safe learning environment for students from various cultural backgrounds, promote participation and leverage the potential of collaboration in the international classroom
